Your website is just the hub of your online presence.  Social networking, content creation, personal and business branding, and management of search engine results are just a few of the spokes. But where do your energies need to be applied to maximize your exposure, SEO, SEM, current client retention, new client acquisition, and best online practices?

Where do you need to be seen for full web optimization?

What does your LinkedIN profile look like?  This is a MUST HAVE if you do ANY business on the web!  DIYers can create the basic profile, but do you know of all the apps and features they offer on a free account?  Do you know which ones will benefit your hire-ability, believe-ability, or professionalism? Have you taken advantage of all of the ones that are best for you?

Is your Twitter profile tweaked to the max?  Did you know you can add your brand elements to your profile photo AND to your background.  And there are more changes/updates that can be done to help your profile page stand out, call to action, and look more professional. To the left you can see how I’ve helped some of my clients.

YouTube now not only has a LIVE! venue, but YT channels can be tweaked too.  From banners at the top of your channel page, to backgrounds with your products or other photos, logos, graphics, etc.  Did you know websites with YT channels rank higher than those without? It is because YT is the 3rd largest site in the world and search engines know many users go there first to search.

Facebook pages for businesses have been a hot item.  There is even a WordPress theme that not only automatically adds local SEO, but it provides an easy way to create a Facebook page for your newly created site.  Even if you already have a site, do you really NEED a  Facebook page?  Do you need help managing the one you have?  There are ways to “brand” yours up, and workflow methods that can get it more attention.

What other web optimization should you consider?

Should you be on Pinterest?  Or Author Central? Or any one of the other 200+ social networks?  It is not only to find clients/customers … but to be seen, especially as an expert or professional in your product/field. As in real life, on the Internet it’s not just what you know but who you know.  The best thing about web optimization is that you can PROVE what you know and help who you know get you to where you need/want to be.
