Branding for Everyone

Branding for Companies is usually quite obvious… their logo, their name, their catch phrase, their colors, their mascot, their product, etc.  For individuals it can be as simple as a basic blog/website, or a photo with a LinkedIn profile, or even just a Facebook page.  But if you are looking for connections, a job, customers, clients, leads, and the like, you really need to maximize your online presence. I mean, come on folks what is the only way to get connections, a job, customers, etc.?  Networking.  What is the one of the main purposes and use of the Internet?  Connecting!  Simply put: The Internet is Networking… on STEROIDS!

With all sorts of different online profiles, on sites that match up with your product/service (example: mine is video production so you can find me on YouTube, Vimeo, and more… Google me), and anywhere, anyway you can get your … YOU/Brand … out there, is a must.  Yeah it’s time consuming, yeah it takes a great deal of thought and hopefully as much research to create your brand.  But once it is set and you keep it updated, fresh and social; your connections/customer base can’t help but grow.

When coming up with your brand thinking out of the box is so 20th century…. now THERE IS NO BOX!  Nothing.  You don’t have to start from scratch, just remember there are more rold models/ideas on your competitiors sites, on sites where your client base congregates, etc., than you will know what to do with.  All you have to do is make it your own.

In short, Branding for the Individual or start-up business on the Internet offers power and connections beyond what you can comprehend.  The down side is that, unlike get rich quick schemes, it’s not a “set it and forget it” situation (well with WordPress Plugins and systems like HootSuite you can automate your online presence). There are a few tricks and tips here that can speed up the process, but the main thing you will need is the energy and will power to succeed.  To make it happen.  To stay focused, yet broad minded and always inquisitive.  Need help?  Contact me, maybe I can offer some advice or even work with you.
